New York, NY—September 18, 2011—For urban scenesters, pop-up restaurants, pop-up nightclubs, even pop-up boutiques have quickly become the new standard for knowing what to eat, where to be seen and how to shop. Now inFormed Space adds that dimension to home staging.
inFormed Space introduces an innovative home staging concept—complete with a touch of performance art. It easily and economically illustrates volume, scale and use, defining a space without forcing a specific style. The company’s trademark, “a stylish quickie,” accurately sums up its mission.
The glossy white nonfunctional furniture is inspired by modern classic designers. Club chairs, dining tables, loveseats, sofas, desks, art panels and more are all easy to arrange and rearrange because they are made of featherweight recyclable plastic. inFormed Space’s rental costs are less than half that of traditional staging, which may run upwards of $4,000 per month for a two bedroom apartment in Manhattan.
These aren’t the only benefits that come with inFormed Space. Design entrepreneur Douglas Pinter always adds a bit of minimalist performance art, a twist on life imitating art—a pair of boots rests by a chair, a martini glass sits on a coffee table, a child’s crayon scrawl of “I want mommy,” on a seat cushion. These and other evocative props add a compelling, even neighborhood-specific feel to each installation. Finely crafted and manufactured in California and New York, inFormed Space’s line of prop furniture is composed of a lightweight recyclable material, Coroplast, a corrugated plastic that is used primarily for signs and reusable packaging. Its twin-wall fluted structure produces strength and rigidity at a lower weight than other materials. Coroplast uses polypropylene copolymers that make for easy recycling at the end of their useful life into the same processing streams as plastic milk cartons and detergent bottles.
inFormed Space will preview in New York at an event with CORE real estate brokerage on Thursday evening, October 6, 2011 from 5 – 8 p.m. For one night only, inFormed Space will stage the entry floor of a seven-story Chelsea townhouse located at 233 West 20th Street currently listed for sale by CORE at $13.65 million. The installation will then be moved to stage a new one-bedroom listing by CORE’s Tom Postilio at 100 West 58th Street, one block from Central Park.
